In my wanderings today, I passed by a hawk cold chillin' under a tree on the Drexler campus nonchalantly chowing down on what I assume was a pigeon. Whatever it was, the scene was surrounded by a surprisingly large blast radius of loose feathers. I snapped a couple cell phone pics, but they didn't really come out. Anyway, what surprised me was how unimpressed the bird seemed with all the human presence around. I mean...I know it's not that out of bounds for a raptor to come and operate in a metropolitan area. I am, however, pretty unused to one just hunkering down to enjoy a meal in the middle of a busy pedestrian thoroughfare. Glad to see we can all get along.
