Ads and anti-ads

So it came to pass that people liked my Chase letter from earlier. I should point out that I'm not trying to get anything from Chase; I just needed to vent a little. But in a similar, but much more interesting, vein is this guy Dave Carroll who said United Airlines broke his guitar on a flight and spent almost a year trying to get them to compensate him for it, a request which was consistently refused by the airline. So he wrote a song about it and put it on YouTube, it went viral and got millions of hits, and now United has offered to pay up. Carroll has turned down the money, asking instead that the compensation go to charity, and it did. Nice! Story here. Video here.

This is just kind of a random post by me. makes for a nice story, and it's nice and pro-little-guy and all, so I guess that's always good. But mostly I just felt like the notes of dissatisfaction with the customer experience resonated well with my recent feelings, and plus the song is catchy, so...enjoy.

And while I'm in the YouTube world....

The funny on this is probably like ten years old by now or something, but that was also back from before I was blogging regular, and I actually don't know if this made the rounds with you guys or not. Back when I was dotcomming it in San Fran, we saw this video of the soundtrack from that Budweiser "Wazzuuuuuuuuup" ad dubbed over Superfriends footage. I must have watched that thing at least every day for years. It cracked me up hard. Every. Single. Time. For some reason recently I got the urge to see it again, so I found it on YouTube and watched it, and I cracked up hard all over again. So now...I pass it on to you guys. Enjoy.
