Busy busy

I'm more or less constantly disappointed by my inability to keep the posts coming. For one thing, I just don't seem to have any time any more. all. By the numbers, this is a ridiculous position to hold. I just don't do that much. But by practical effect, I just don't find myself with any appreciable time to spend in front of the computer. I think the most I've been able to do lately is throw in some nonsensical one-liner comments on people's journals now and then, but that's about it. Just trying sneak in another update.

Last week was a fabulous six-day work week for me, counting the meeting I had to go to on my day off, which, amazingly, was more or less exactly what I expected it to be. God, what a throwback to corporate life. Get the workers together, give out coffee, show a nice PowerPoint presentation with revenue charts and whatever, take a few questions, promise to look into why there aren't softer toilet seats or whateverthefuck, send everyone home. Life goes on. I'm pretty sure I get paid for that, though, so...I'll take it.

This week has been lighter on the work front, thankfully, as I was once more taken off the Monday shift. I think poker took up the slack as far as extra free time is concerned, though I'm pretty sure I didn't do anything much on Tuesday. Just slept a lot. But I think this past Tuesday was the first time in a really long time that I didn't go into A.C. at all. Did some chores, tried to catch up on some paperwork and whatever...I dunno. Guess I didn't get much done.

This upcoming week is going to be craaaaap. So here's the deal. I start the working weekend tonight (leaving in about a half-hour, actually). I've got a Friday night shift and Saturday night shift, and then I have a brief break before a Sunday afternoon shift. That's basically my normal weekend pattern these days. But...then I have to do an orientation series next week, I guess owing to my recent change in job position. Not too bad...three days of orientation starting on Monday, probably full days, but no dealing in addition; just the orientation. Here's the rub, though...the orientation is on regular day shift, a standard 9 to 5. Thanks. So here's my next six days: swing, swing, early swing, day, day, day. Jumping from swing to early swing is doable; it happens pretty much every week anyway. Jumping from early swing to day, though, is going to be a bear. It's from Sunday to Monday; I think I'm just going to have to do another overnight in A.C., like that time I had training. So all of that is basically going to bury me until Thursday. I get Thursday and Friday off, and then they threw me onto a two late swings on Saturday and Sunday. Late like starting at 9. At night. Which probably has be coming out at 5 in the morning, which probably has me getting home at 8. Christ! I'm pretty sure the following week is going to get me back to a more normal swing shift routine like I had before. If it doesn't, I'm going to have to talk to somebody. :) But this upcoming week isn't looking too great. Ugh.

Anyway...not much else besides that. My life is pretty simple these days. Sleep, work, commute, and poker. Also spending time with my friend Angela. One of these days I have to get around to telling the story of Angela. But there you go...those are the five things I do. I have an occasional break to eat or go to the bathroom, but overall, I'd say that's about it. It's a clean and simple routine. It's just not any good for blogging. :)

Anyway...time's up. Off to work.
