The world outside my head

I have returned home after a brief trip out of my normal world to hang with my sister. Astoundingly, I just had two days off in a row, so my sis recruited me to come visit her new house up in the wilds of North Jersey and help her with some work she's doing on it. This kicked off with us swinging by my mom's place and picking up her old couch, strapping it to my sister's truck, and hauling it up to her place. The house is pretty cool. My sister is basically taking the house apart, cleaning and fixing all the bits and pieces, and putting it back together. It is a massive undertaking. I don't know how she gets all this shit done, but...somehow she does. Anyway, I helped pull nails out of boards, paint primer on said boards, buff grout haze off recently grouted kitchen tiles, and seal said recent grout. Grout is fun to say. Also "buffing grout haze" is fun to say. In between, we ate at diners, watched movies, and played Scrabble. It was a nice time, and it was good to spend time with my sister, since we don't see each other that often. I'm still a bit shell-shocked that she bought a house. I mean...that's just crazy. I'm actually less shocked that she's taking it apart and putting it back together. I mean...that's just the kind of stuff she does. But anyway...yeah. Everyone's growing up but me. Happens, I guess.

Anyway. Those activities concluded, she drove me as far as NYC, where I snagged a bus back to A.C. to go back home, which was its own kind of adventure. The driver apparently didn't know how to operate much of the bus's controls nor, indeed, how to get to Atlantic City, which is sort of unfortunate. A few minutes after we left NYC, he had to pull over to the side of the road and poll the passengers for directions. Twice. I'm totally not kidding about this. The remainder of the trip was basically punctuated with occasional passenger input: "Oh my God! Left lane! Left lane!" I really don't know what the story was there, but FSM help me if I ever land a job that ends up with me tooling around with a hundred backseat drivers. At long last, I eventually made it home, by way of a quick jaunt through the Tropicana for my little bus ticket rebate. I spent some time doing some online catchup, and here I am. I'm tired, and I stink. Tomorrow, back to work. Life continues. Peace, everybody.
